Most of the tests have been tests of endurance. Everyone technically got out in each round, even Qin Chen. To pass, the others don't have to win like he did, but they do have to be able to go through a certain portion of the test. For example, the first test didn't end after passing level three (Qin Chen got to level 9), but so long as the applicant passed level three (the level with three lines) they passed the test period. The crazy chick barely made it to level four and passed simply because she had made it there. I don't think the specifications of the second test were well explained, but it was likely a similar "do your best to win, but if you can't win you still pass if you last X amount of time".
